Since co-founding Fisch Haus in 1990, Patrick Duegaw has played an active role in Wichita’s art community. The Painted Theatre Project (PTP), his current body of work, which includes The Innumerable Anxieties, and the on-going Creation, Preservation, and Destruction series, reinterprets both painting and the basic rules of dramatic construction, combining installation, painting and theatre, where, in place of thespians, objects, and a stage, it instead features a painted cast, props, and sets. Duegaw’s work casts inner turmoil and tension onto a grand stage with a wry wit.
